About
About

He was born in Poland into a family whose artistic tradition goes back for centuries. Lukasz started playing the violin at the age of 9. His experience as a luthier began at the early age of 13, when he made his first violin at the atelier of Adam Stalmach in his hometown of Limanowa. That experience launched his long study of violin making, music, and arts in Poland and Italy and the achievement of his Master of Arts degree in violin making. Lukasz graduated from Kenar's College of Arts in Zakopane, Poland, in the string instrument making class under Stanislaw Mardula. In 2002 he was awarded his Master of Arts degree with honors from I.J. Paderewski’s Academy of Music in Poznan, Poland, for his artistry in violin making and restoration under Antoni Krupa. In the same year he received an award from the Mayor of the City of Poznan for his extraordinary achievements. In 2002 he took a diploma of the Master of Arts with distinction, the faculty of Artistic Violin making from the Academy of Music in Poznan Poland. The Master’s thesis was “The copies of the violins in the period from 18th to 20th century in development of the violin-making in Europe”. After 9 years long and very intensive studies in Poland in 2003 Lukasz moved to Cremona, Italy and has worked in distinguished ateliers of violin making. In 2009 he moved to New York, where he worked for many years for many important dealers in Manhattan.

After decades of extensive training and work iin 2012 Lukas finally opened his own violin making atelier in Queens and became the owner of Lukas Violins. In 2014 Lukas moved his shop to Manhattan to 96th and Broadway, the heart of the Upper West Side, to better suit his clientele. Quickly his shop became one of the most important shops in the New York area.

I HIGHLY recommend luthier Lukasz Wronski.  My violas have improved wonderfully with his repair work, which includes new sound posts, bridges, new pegs, gluing, and different string choices.  They sound very resonant, project well, and they're evenly balanced. I have also seen excellent varnish work done by him on some of my colleagues' instruments.  Lukasz has a great instinct for what will improve each instrument. The ambience of his shop is extremely warm and welcoming.

Where do I look for great Old Italian violins and French bows? Where do I get the best violin adjustment? There is one place for it all: LUKAS VIOLINS in New York City, owned by Lukasz Wronski. THE BEST VIOLIN SHOP! Highly recommended to anyone looking for expert services and best deals. I have played on many violins made by Lukas Wronski. Though modern, they have often been mistaken for Italian Instruments. I am also very thankful to Lukas for helping me with my violins and with finding a great bow—the same bow that had been sitting overpriced at another shop for a year.
